News release
NEXT VERSION OF PEDIGREESOFT.COM TO BE RELEASED AS FAMILY
TREE EXPLORER™
LONDON, ENGLAND, November 13, 2007 . PedigreeSoft.com, the industry
pioneer in web-based family tree software, announces that the newest
version of its namesake service will be released in January 2008 under the
new brand name of Family Tree Explorer™. This exciting new service is a
completely re-engineered web-based family tree application and service
built on modern Web 2.0 and Adobe Flex™ technologies. Family Tree
Explorer™ will completely replace the existing PedigreeSoft platform early
next year.
Family Tree Explorer™ is the first fully-featured web-based application
designed to realistically replace your existing desktop family tree
software. While not only providing the robustness of today.s most
advanced family tree applications, Family Tree Explorer™ adds a host of
revolutionary and unparalleled features including intuitive tree sharing,
collaboration and online backup and research tools.
"I'm passionate about family history" says Matt Garner, founder of
PedigreeSoft and lead developer of Family Tree Explorer™, "and excited
to see the latest user interface, database, collaboration and research
technologies being tastefully leveraged to provide ground breaking tools to
an anxious audience of seasoned historians and family tree newcomers
alike."
An early, streamlined version of Family Tree Explorer has been available
in a free public beta through findmypast.com, the parent company of
PedigreeSoft, since August 2007. Since that initial launch, over 140,000
findmypast.com users have created or imported trees using the product.
"The customer response we've received in the findmypast.com beta has
been overwhelmingly positive," says Mr. Garner, "but that product is quite
elementary compared to what's coming up ahead. I'm very excited to see
PedigreeSoft evolve and continue to pioneer web-based family tree
software."
The basic Family Tree Explorer service will be free of charge. The pricing
of annual premium subscriptions to the service will be announced when the
service goes live early next year.
